Pops of Red

Eeek... Ignore my horrible roots y'all! I have a hair appointment soon LOL. I was out shopping
and I found this adorable top and this adorable plaid button down and I just could not resist.
They look SO cute together! If you are looking for a cute back to campus look, then look
no further because ding, ding, ding we have a winner! Okay but really, I love this look because
there is just so many ways to put it together. You could do different graphic tees like this one
or this one, different plaids like this or this. Or even just a simple plain tee with a long necklace
(I love this one!) instead of the graphic tee. Really, the possibilities (and cute outfits) are endless.
I also think this look would be super cute with Converse or Birks. But I really love matching
my lip color to whatever color is going on in the outfit. Pink plaid or pink necklace = Pink
lipstick. I really just think the pops of coordinating color really make this look come together!

Sorry for the not so beautiful background y'all. In front of my garage was the best I could
do considering how busy I have been and my lack of photographers! Also, I've been trying
to post as often as I can and avoid any long gaps in posts. I just want to put as many looks
on here as I can :)

A Fashionista's Backpack Essentials

As we get closer and closer and closer to the start of school, I find myself trying to find super cute school supplies. I mean, if you are anything like me, then your school supplies have to be as cute as your outfit... Am I right?? Yeah, I thought so! Well, that is why I have put together a list of all of my must haves for my backpack (or school bag, I use my Tory Burch York Tote as my 'backpack')

This one is pretty self explanatory.  Like I mentioned, I use my TB tote. However, before I got my tote, I used a plain black North Face backpack that I lOVED. I really recommend them because they are amazing quality and come with a lifetime warranty. But, if you'd prefer something a but more fashionable, I recommend using a tote like me or a cute Michael Kors backpack like this or this.

2. Planner:

This is also pretty self explanatory. But I just had to include it and tell you all where you can find some of the cutest little planners you ever did see! I have this one from and I LOVE it. It's so cute and comes with so many amazing features! Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade also make some adorable planners, I had a Lilly one last semester and loved it. I also recommend checking out target and TJ Maxx and Marshall's for cute planners as well. I absolutely need a planner to keep my life together. My planner is like my secret weapon y'all.

Again... DUH. You always need notebooks for notes and whatnot, and has some of the cutest notebooks I have ever seen! They have cute sayings and patterns and they really are just too darn cute. Once again I also recommend checking out target and TJ Maxx and Marshall's for cute notebooks!

Necessary? No. Totally adorable? Yes. Add one of these bad boys to your backpack or school bag for that extra pop of cuteness. They literally have them everywhere now, but I love the ones from Francesca's because they have so many cute colors!

In college, your laptop is your life. And if you're anything like me, you went out before school started and dropped way too much money on some model of a MAC... Am I right? Well either way, if you have a cheap laptop or an expensive one, you want to keep it protected, and why not keep it protected in style? I also love this super cute laptop case so much!

6. Good Book

If you ever have any free time in school, then you know it's super handy to have a good book on you. I really enjoyed The Kind Worth Killing and definitely recommend it if you are looking for a new book. It's similar to Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. Plus, who knows, maybe someone else will see you reading it and will strike up a conversation about it. Then BAM new friends!

7. Pens:

These Bando pens are just too cute to pass up! I love the one that matches my planner!

You'll obviously need something to carry all those cute pens... So why not get a super cute pencil case to just really bring together your fashionista back to campus aesthetic? This one comes in all different patterns and colors!

I'm doing you all a big favor with this one. Get a cute coffee mug and make your coffee at home. Not only will you save money not stopping at Starbs on the way to school, but you can use your super cute coffee mug as a new chic accessory. You can find super cute mugs by Kate Spade (I love this one!) or at Starbs. You're welcome.

Most of these are pretty boring and lame. I found this super cute one on Forever 21's website and I just adore it. You know all that texting during class drains your battery, so better have one of these handy for when your phone dies! I really like this one and this one.

When I'm at school (especially during the fall season) I find myself washing my hands all the time in a desperate attempt to avoid getting sick. Unfortunately all that hand washing makes my hands super dry, so I like to keep my favorite scented lotion handy so I don't have to deal with the dryness! Plus, it smells good so it's a win-win. I love Bath and Body's A Thousand Wishes. It smells SO GOOD.

For carrying all that makeup of course! I really love this one because the quote is too darn cute. Who knew a little makeup bag could be so fun? You can find more adorable makeup bags here, here, and here!

This is totally not necessary either, but it's cute, sparkly, and monogrammed so I just couldn't not put it on the list. Paired with the Pom Pom Keychain and you've got some super fab backpack accessories! Marley Lilly also has some great monogram keychains!

So, there ya have it y'all. That is the complete list of all of my must haves for my school bag! I hope you all enjoyed this post, and if you'd like to see more posts like it just let me know! Also, if you haven't already, don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin!

Dressing Room Diaries of a Fashionista

As back to campus approaches... I find myself in a lot of dressing rooms. As you all probably know, I LOVE places like Marshall's and TJ Maxx. So, naturally, I find myself in these dressing rooms most often. I love trying on new clothes and finding new things. Now, the best part of shopping at these places is that everything I am about to show you (with the exception of the maroon sweater) is under $15. I know. Like I mentioned in my back to campus post, shopping at these places is the BEST way to get the most out of your money. Now, without further ado, here are all the adorable pieces I found at Marshall's.

Okay this was just SO CUTE. I love the lace, the color, the cut... Everything. I really liked the fact that the slip under the lace was cropped, but the lace was not. Just all around this is a super cute top! Wear it on it's own or under a cardi or a sweater.

In case you haven't noticed, I am kind of obsessed with bell sleeves lately. Oh, and also the lace up trend that has been goin' on lately. So obviously i'm obsessed with this super cute, bell sleeve, lace up top! And I mean, that color!!! Mauve everything, please.

This one is a simple top, that can be worn with just about anything. Add a sweater, add a cardi, add a statement necklace. Add whatever you want, and you've got a cute outfit goin' on. Also, again with the mauve color... It's just perfect for fall.

Okay this was honestly a little bit out of my comfort zone. Definitely not my usual style of top. That being said, I am SO glad I tried this on! I think it's super cute for summer or fall. It would look great with anything - leggings, jeans, shorts. Anything! It's just so fun and flowy. I love it!

This top. *insert heart eye emoji here* Ugh, let me tell you about this top. The color is gorgeous, the style is super flattering, and the button down sleeves are just darling. I love this top so much!

Vertical stripes are so in right now. This tank not only brings the stripes to the table... But that bow! So girly and sophisticated. Pair with jeans and dress it down, or pair with a blazer and dress pants for a more grown up, businessy look.

Does this top even need an explanation?! Okay no it doesn't but i'm going to add one anyway. Gorgeous color, dainty lace, lace up, AND bell sleeves? Does it get any better? No. No, it does not.

I love me a good cold shoulder top. However, I get kind of bored with them because a lot of them look the same... Which is why I  really loved this one. The floral pattern is adorable, the lace details on the shoulders really make this top stand out, and the tassels really just pull it all together.

If these top wasn't see through, I would say it was my fave out of everything I tried on. But see through-ness aside, this top is super cute and super different. I love the neckline and the sleeves!

This top is olive which means I automatically love it. It's also flowy and cozy and flattering which means I love it even more!

This top was on sale for $6. Yeah, I said $6. And it has a cute bow. Enough said.

This cardigan is the perfect cardigan for pre-fall weather. It is super lightweight and super flowy! So, not too warm to wear in the late summer months. It would look great with shorts or jeans.

This was definitely my favorite thing I tried on. I love the color, the fringe, and the pattern. So cute and so cozy and PERFECT for fall! Ugh, I can not wait for fall!!!

On the subject of fall... Marshall's already had Halloween decor out! How exciting is that?! I just want to lounge around in over sized sweaters and drink PSLs. Yeah I know talk about basic, but it's just so true. I picked up the yummiest smelling candles while I was here... One is Spiced Pumpkin and the other is Honey Pumpkin - both smell delish! They are DW Home's Hand Poured candles and I highly recommend them. They smell amazing and they are VERY affordable. I find them at Marshall's and TJ Maxx for $2.99 all the time.

Who else is excited for fall?! I know I am. Leave a comment with your fave thing about fall below. And keep an eye out for future posts... I'll be posting more frequently and my outfits are definitely way better in the fall... Just sayin'. Anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed this post. If you'd like to see more like it, let me know! Don't forget to check out your local Marshall's for all the cute clothes I talked about in today's post.

The Perfect Bell Sleeve Dress

Dress: Lush (I also love this one and this romper!) | Sandals: Old, similar here and here
Bag: Tory Burch | Necklace: Forever 21

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (tyllermarquez if you don't!), then you know that I am in love with this bell sleeve dress. I have been raving about it for some time now, so I figured I should probably do a post on it! This dress comes in four different solid colors, and nine different patterns. If I could, I would but this dress in ever color and pattern. It is SO cozy and flowy and perfect for late summer / fall. Not only does it look great with sandals, but it would pair perfectly with a pair of riding boots and boot socks (or booties!), and a scarf or fur vest to create the perfect fall look!

Transitioning this look to Fall:

Add boots & boot socks...

OR: Add booties...

Add a scarf or fur vest...

And there you have it! Taking this look from summer to fall is super easy. Just add your favorite fall boots and your favorite fall accessories and you are good to go!

Once again thank you to my best friend Samantha for taking all of these photos!

Hope y'all enjoyed this post. Until next time! :)

How to Slay Back to Campus Shopping

Top (old) similar | Shorts | Sandals (old) similar here and here | Necklace

As i'm sure you all know, we are approaching a very bitter sweet time in every student's life...
Back to school! And if you're anything like me, then you know that back to school also means back to school shopping. I have to admit, this time of year is always such a relief for me. It's a little reminder that yes, the 100 degree temps will in fact be coming to an end soon, AND that my closet is about to get a little (okay... probably a lot, if i'm being quite honest) of an upgrade... And yours can too! Keep reading to find out all of my tried and true shopping tips and tricks. This post will teach you how to shop smart - and how to get the most out of your money!

Tip #1: Take Inventory

This is probably the most important tip I can give someone before school shopping. I am so guilty of spending a day out shopping and bringing home things that are nearly identical to things I already have at home, and i'm sure i'm not alone on this one. So yes, take inventory. Figure out what you have, what you need (yes, I said need), and what you want. However, it's important to remember that there are some things that you should have multiples of - jeans and leggings for example.

Tip #2: Set a Budget

Figure out how much you want to spend and what you want to spend it on. Remember, there are a lot of things that need to be purchased for back to school - tuition, parking passes, books, laptops, school supplies... The list is endless, really. So set a budget! Make a list of things you're going to be purchasing, how much they're going to cost, and how much you can spend.

Tip #3: Shop Smart

If you've read any of my previous posts, then you know I pretty much shop at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Ross exclusively. This is because you can find all the cute stuff you can find elsewhere for a discounted price. ALWAYS check these places before you shop elsewhere. They can be hit or miss but I swear by each of these places. Pro tip: Check these stores often to find some really great stuff.

* I have a few rules when it comes to buying clothing, and I stick to them most of the time *

1. I wont spend more than $15 on my shirts.
2. I wont spend more than $30 on jeans and pants.
3. I wont spend more than $10 on accessories (jewelry, scarves, hats, etc.).
4. I wont spend more than $40 on non-designer shoes and bags.

These are all with the exception of designer and high quality wardrobe staples that I will have forever.  Some examples of items that I will splurge on include my Tory Burch York Tote, my Tory Burch riding boots (mine are last year's version and brown), my LL Bean duck boots, and my Hunters. I wear my tote almost every day (I even use it as a backpack for class), and the shoes are classics that will never go out of style. I recommend checking out Poshmark for deals on designer items - you can also sell clothes on there, which is pretty great. I've made a lot of money using Posh! Use my code HCRZX to get a $5.00 credit when you sign up! - I bought my TB Tote and got a matching wallet for free through that app... Let's just say it's one of my biggest fashion secrets lol. I also recommend trying consignment and second-hand stores like Plato's Closet. Sometimes you can find brand new clothing for a fraction of the original price. Again, this is pretty hit and miss, but it doesn't hurt to try. Some of my favorite clothing has been picked up from a store like these. After trying all of the above, look for sales at all the other clothing stores out there. Subscribe to email alerts, check sites, check newspapers. Do it all, because I guarantee you, every store will have some kind of back to school sale going on. Seriously, guys, I do NOT pay full price for like, anything. But, if you must, make sure you've tried all of the above options and make sure it is something you will wear. Make sure the item is versatile. I repeat: Make sure you will wear it!!! I say this because I am so guilty of buying stuff that I think i'll wear... Then I never do.

Tip #4: Basics to Statement Pieces

I recommend starting your shopping with any basics that you don't already have. Basic tees, tanks, denim, leggings - things like that. Then, after you've got the basics covered, start adding fun statement pieces that make your look really stand out. Add fun necklaces, funky scarfs, hats, cute socks, honestly anything detail oriented. I can honestly say that the little things are what really makes an outfit. Even a dainty necklace or some pearl earrings can really complete a look.

Tip #5: Be YOU

The best advice I can give to anyone who is buying clothes: Buy clothes that represent you. Sure, trendy pieces are the best (I'm obsessed with the off the shoulder and cold shoulder trends going on right now!)... But don't forget to add your own personal style to everything you wear. Like headbands? Incorporate them into your looks. Like bright colors? Add one into every outfit. Just do you! Find looks that you love and add your own flare.

Okay, now you're a pro shopper! Get on that back to school shopping and own it! *insert hair flip emoji here* Now, all that being said, I have put together a few outfit ideas below. These are all different looks that can easily be changed around and made to fit your own personal style. Here are a few of my favorite back to school looks!

Look #1: Comfy Casual

I love this look so much! It's comfy and cute, and it's a very wearable look. This is my go to look for those days where I just don't feel like getting ready. Throw on a tee, leggings (long or cropped - both are cute), a pair of your favorite converse, and a baseball cap (I love repping UNM with my Lobo caps!). I like to add some bling like a pair of CZ studs and a blingy watch to make it look like I tried at least a little. Then of course, no back to campus look would be complete without a tote to carry all those books!

Look #2: Keep it Basic

This has to be the cutest and easiest look ever. Basically, take any cute tunic you have (I love white and olive green!) and dress it up  with a cute pair of distressed skinnies, a pair of neutral lace
up sandals, a matching tote (I seriously need this Tory Burch one in my life!), and some bling.
I love all things Kendra Scott and I really think adding a piece of her jewelry to any look just completes it. I love the Elle earrings because they're big, but not heavy. I have them in three colors and they go with everything! I recommend starting with the pearl if you're considering purchasing your first pair - I haven't found an outfit I couldn't wear them with. I've also found that a good monogram necklace and a good watch are major wardrobe staples that you can wear every day and that will never ever go out of style.

Look #3: Rompin' Around

I love this look because it's functional and totally fab. Rompers are my fave because not only are they super girly, you don't need to be careful in a romper like you would in a dress. They're just so fun! I also love that a romper can be dressed up or dressed down. Add heels or wedges and you've got a more formal look. Add gladiator sandals and a hat (like I did) and you've got a super cute boho look! This is a great back to school look because it works with the hot pre-fall weather. Again... Don't forget your tote bag!

Look #4: Dress It Up

Dresses are my favorite thing to wear. Why? Well, I don't have to put pants on. Also, because dresses give the illusion of max effort even when minimum effort was put out. Want to look like you tried? Wear a dress. Trust me. I also love how even the most simple dress can make for a super cute outfit with the help of the right accessories - like a little bling and some great shoes! I love this Lush dress, I could wear it everyday. This last outfit idea is like a two in one... Two different dress looks that you can mix and match!

***Disclaimer: I know these outfits don't perfectly follow the 'rules' I have listed above. These outfits are just examples and are meant to be used for inspiration. I like to shop online at stores like Nordstrom, but I always try and find the same or similar pieces at places like TJ Maxx. Also, as I mentioned previously, I do splurge on designer items and wardrobe staples***

Well, that's it for this post...
Now you know how to totally slay back to campus. Hope y'all enjoyed reading! Feel free to leave me a comment with post suggestions, I would love to hear from you all! Stay tuned for a post all about backpack / school bag essentials coming soon!

Summer Neutrals

Hi everyone! So I know I've been totally MIA - and i'm sorry! Luckily I was able to get back out today and shoot some photos for a new post. I had such a blast taking these photos with my best friend today (thanks Samantha for letting me drag you around Old Town and for taking photos of me - you are the BEST!!) and I have to say, this may have been my favorite shoot yet! I've found that not only do I love the fashion aspect of blogging but I really do love taking the photos and putting posts together for you guys (thank you all for taking the time to read my blog, I cannot tell you all how much it means to me!) because it's just too much fun!

The weather was nice today (nice meaning it didn't get to be 90 degrees thank goodness) so I decided to go for a good transitional late summer / wishing-it-could-be-fall already look. Okay, so really mostly just a late summer look... BUT let me tell you this outfit could so easily be turned into a fall look. I'll talk more about how in just a bit, but let me tell you more about this look!

My tank (unfortunately no longer available) is Lush brand which can usually be found at Nordstrom and right now, there is a lot of this brand in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which will be ending soon - so jump on it ASAP if you're interested in purchasing something from the sale. I bought mine from TJ Maxx (surprise, surprise) but this is a top that can easily be swapped out for a similar one - simple white tanks can be found just about anywhere. Try this one or this one. My destroyed jeans are the same ones I always rave about (sorry, not sorry!) because again, they are my absolute favorite jeans and I have not found any that compare. Not to mention they are affordable! Even if you can't find them at Marshall's or TJ Maxx like I do, they are usually under $60 full price. These jeans are SO worth it, let me tell you. My shoes are super cute, but like I've mentioned in a previous post, they're not very comfy. I can wear them just fine for a few hours, but anything after that is kind of torturous - yikes! My crossbody bag is a true wardrobe staple for me and I wear it all the time. It seriously goes with everything! My watch is the same watch I always wear. Yes, I own more than one watch... I just really love this one! My bracelet is old but you can find similar options here and here. My hat, earrings (i'm wearing the medium sized hoops), and necklace are all from Forever21 and are major wardrobe staples for me. I could wear the hat over and over! Plus, I'm loving all of the dainty necklaces that Forever21 has had lately! They're so feminine and they really tie together any outfit. I really love this one!

Okay, this is so simple y'all. Take this look from summer to fall by...

1. Adding a cardigan...
Like these:

2. Adding some booties...
Like these:

But yeah thats pretty much it... So easy! Just add a little something or swap a little something!

So, the sale ends in two days. I know, I'm sorry, I'm sad too. BUT as I previously mentioned, there are several items from the brand Lush in the sale which is a brand that I LOVE. This brand has some of the cutest wardrobe staples. I especially love their tunics! Below are all of the Lush brand items from the N-Sale:

Also, everyone meet my friend Samantha!
She took all of these photos for me, so I just had to return the favor. Also, she asked to be on the blog... So yeah, this is her:

Thanks for reading!

Stay tuned as i'll be posting a back to school clothing shopping guide VERY SOON! It'll be such a fun post with all the details on how I back to school shop and my little tips and tricks. I'll also include some outfit ideas!
